LBNL / Biosciences Area / Biological Systems and Engineering / Joint Bioenergy Institute
synthetic biology, genetic engineering, bioreactor and consolidated bioprocessing development
The development of novel strategies for engineering microbes to produce biofuels and bioproducts will be evaluated. Students will be able to participate in bench level research in cutting edge research to evaluate the performance of CRISPR systems in non-model microbial organisms. Work is conducted at JBEI, 5885 Hollis Street. See https://m-group.lbl.gov and http://www.jbei.org/research/biofuels-and-bioproducts/ for more information.
MCB.140L is suggested, or other biology laboratory experience.
Expected time commitment
For the summer, ~20-30hrs a week. Time commitment is flexible but should be discussed in advance.
